Zenless Zone Zero's Version 3.3 Arrives October 21

HoYoverse is calling its next Zenless Zone Zero update a 'Journey to the Sky,' but strip away the poetry and it's two new pullable characters and a banner refresh.

Zenless Zone Zero's next update lands October 21, and HoYoverse has given it a name: 'Journey to the Sky.' Strip the poetry out of that and here's what actually shows up on your screen: two new characters you can gamble for, a new story chapter, some outfits, and a handful of event modes to burn your energy on until the next patch rolls around.

The two new Agents are Phoenix and Severian. HoYoverse's own Zenless Zone Zero channel, in the special program video announcing the update, confirms Phoenix shows up in the first half of the patch's run. Whether that means an easy pull or another round of hoping the banner favors you depends entirely on how the rates shake out, and nobody announcing a patch ever tells you that part. Severian's exact slot in the schedule wasn't spelled out, so take the back half as the working assumption until the game actually says otherwise.

Alongside the new Agents, the patch brings reruns of past Signal Search banners, meaning players who missed a character the first time around get another shot at the same gamble, plus new story content continuing off Version 3.2's 'Their Secret Histories,' which is still the live version of the game as of this week. New event gameplay and outfits round it out, the standard seasoning HoYoverse adds to keep a live-service game feeling like it's moving even in the weeks between real story beats.

None of this is a surprise in shape. Zenless Zone Zero runs on the same cadence every gacha title runs on: new faces, old banners back for round two, a story drip to justify logging back in. The game ships across PS5, Xbox, PC, Steam, iOS and Android alike, so there's no platform angle here, just a calendar date and a shopping list of characters to chase. HoYoverse has been consistent about hitting these windows, and 'Journey to the Sky' lands right on schedule according to both the publisher's own post and the special program video from the official channel.

What matters is whether Phoenix and Severian turn out to be worth building a team around or just another pair of character models padding the roster. That's not something a special program or a press post can answer. Pull rates and kit design settle that argument, not marketing copy, and that verdict doesn't land until players actually get their hands on the characters October 21.
