Ocarina of Time Remake's New Trailer Confirms Nov. 5 Launch

Nintendo's new overview trailer for the Ocarina of Time remake lands with a release date, amiibo tie-ins, and a reminder that nostalgia now comes with a companion app attached.

A new overview trailer for the Ocarina of Time remake arrived this week, and it is exactly as lovely as you hoped. Hyrule looks soft and sunlit, the dungeons look chunky and tactile, and somewhere in there is still that little boy with a sword too big for him. Nintendo confirmed the remake launches November 5, 2026, exclusively on Switch 2, with pre-orders already open.

Both Nintendo of America and Nintendo UK posted the same trailer on their channels, and the descriptions line up on the practical bits. The remake will support ZELDA NOTES, a companion service through the Nintendo Switch App, and two new amiibo figures are on the way that unlock special in-game masks when tapped. Nintendo UK's own posting adds that tapping other Legend of Zelda amiibo you already own can grant helpful items along the way, which is a sweet little use for figures that have mostly been gathering dust on a shelf.

I love that this remake exists. I loved the original ocarina solves, the horse whistling, the whole tiny marvel of it, and a ground up rebuild for Switch 2 is a gift worth being excited about.

Here is my one condition before you preorder: buy it for the remade world, never for the privilege of tapping plastic at a screen to unlock a mask the game should probably just give you. Pay for Hyrule. Do not pay, even indirectly, for the amiibo tax dressed up as bonus content.

If Nintendo keeps that line where it belongs, this could be the cleanest comfort food Switch 2 has served all year.
