Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Sets October 22 Launch
Twelve sports, an island to explore, and a brand-new Island Crown mode: Nintendo's follow-up to Switch Sports lands October 22, exclusively on Switch 2.
Nintendo has picked an island for its next invitation, and the guest list runs twelve sports deep. Nintendo of America confirmed Nintendo Switch Sports Resort arrives October 22, 2026, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders already open.
Here are the small good things tucked into this one:
- Twelve sports total, including Archery, Bowling, and Boxing alongside the island exploration modes.
- Skateboarding runs on Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, which sounds delightful right up until you remember how charmingly this hardware line has let you down before.
- Power Cruising lets you steer across open water, and Prop Plane has you tilting the controller to fly free over the island.
- A new Island Crown mode pits you against Island Champions, solo or online, with minigames that twist the usual rules along the way.
You can also dress up your Sportsmate or your Mii in new items, which is exactly the kind of low-stakes customization this series has always done well. It is cozy, it is social, and it is clearly built to be the game you hand a controller to on a Tuesday evening without explaining any of the rules first.
It is also locked to hardware you may not yet own.
That exclusivity is the actual price of admission here, and no amount of charming tilt controls changes the arithmetic. Enjoy the island. Just know the ticket in is a console, not a controller.
