A Giant Rubber Arm Finally Got Me to Stop Rushing

Nintendo's Indie World buried a weirdo comedy game about a stretchy arm, and it's the first demo in ages that made me stop sprinting toward the objective marker.

By Josh Brandt

Nintendo's Indie World showcase ran its usual fifteen-ish minutes of trailers, release dates, and vibes, but the one that stuck with me wasn't the Breath of the Wild lookalike or the cooperative ghost-dog game. It was My Arms Are Longer Now, a game where you play a single arm that stretches to lengths no insurance policy would cover, and somehow that's the thing that got me to slow down.

The demo, free on Steam right now, covers the opening train heist: sneak into the right car, dodge a guard, pickpocket a few marks, grab a briefcase. Simple enough. Except the arm can grab basically anything on that train, and the passengers react to having their pockets emptied and their faces slapped with the mild annoyance of someone whose coffee order got messed up. That gap between the horror of the limb and everyone's shrug about it is where the comedy lives, and developer Toot Games leaned into it with a voice cast stacked full of Australian comedians, including Millie Holten, who also showed up in the stream itself.

I usually treat demos like a bus stop. Get the impression, get out. This one I just kept poking at, climbing to the train roof, testing what the arm could grab that had nothing to do with the mission, because the game rewards messing around instead of punishing it.

My Arms Are Longer Now arrives March 11, 2027, on Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. One good demo doesn't make a game, but it's bought this one my attention, and that's rarer than any studio wants to admit.
