GTA 6 On Switch 2? Nintendo Just Shrugs And Smiles

Picture the whole sprawl of Grand Theft Auto VI, every palm tree and every bad decision, folded down small enough to fit in your coat pocket. It is a lovely thing to imagine. It is also, as of this week, entirely imaginary.

Asked directly whether the game is headed to Switch 2, Nintendo's Devon Pritchard gave the gaming equivalent of a gentle shrug: nothing to announce, and please direct that question to Take-Two and Rockstar. That is the whole exchange, reported by Insider Gaming, and there is nothing coy about reading it plainly. Nintendo did not confirm a port. Nintendo did not rule one out. Nintendo simply handed the ball to the people who actually decide where Grand Theft Auto VI lands.

Why the deflection is the real answer

This is not a denial, and you should not treat it like one. It is the standard, practiced non-answer a platform holder gives when the decision genuinely sits elsewhere, and in this case it does. Take-Two owns Rockstar, Rockstar owns the game, and Nintendo cannot announce a port it has no authority to greenlight. The tell here is not what Pritchard said. It is who she said to go ask.

The small good things this story has going for it

  • Switch 2 has already shown it can carry ambitious third-party games that once seemed like a stretch.
  • A clean, specific question got a clean, specific non-answer instead of marketing fluff.
  • Nintendo naming Take-Two and Rockstar by name at least tells you precisely where to point your hope.
  • And the quiet bite: a decade of waiting for this game has already trained you to treat every scrap of maybe as a feast, which is exactly the appetite a publisher counts on when it has nothing to say yet.

None of this means a Switch 2 version is coming, and none of it means it is not. It means the question currently has exactly one real owner, and that owner has said nothing at all.
