GTA 6's Leaked File Size Comes In at a Reported 210GB

A Twitter leak pegs Grand Theft Auto VI's standard edition at 210GB on PS5, double Red Dead Redemption II, and nobody at Rockstar has confirmed a thing.

A Twitter account called PlayStation Game Size says the standard $80 edition of Grand Theft Auto VI needs 210GB of storage on PS5, and if that number sticks, you're already deleting something before you even own the game. GameSpot picked up the figure, and the same report made the rounds on Will Mac's channel too, though that's the same claim traveling twice, not two people independently measuring the install.

No one involved, not Rockstar, not Sony, not Take-Two, has put an official number on this. That matters, because a leak with a confident tone is still a leak. Treat 210GB as a well-sourced guess until somebody with the game in hand says otherwise.

Here's what we do know for sure: preloading opens November 12, which Rockstar actually did announce, and that's the one mercy in this whole situation, because a 210GB download on launch day would ruin more mornings than it saves. The Ultimate Edition, which runs $100 and reportedly stuffs in a pile of extra content, has no size listed anywhere yet. Nobody's said what the Xbox Series X|S version weighs either, though there's no reason to think it'll be dramatically smaller. Double the space of Red Dead Redemption II is the comparison being thrown around, and given that GTA 6's map is reportedly three times the size of that game's, with the same obsessive-detail instincts Rockstar's known for, a bloated install isn't exactly a shock.

The game launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC version reportedly not landing until early 2027, so anyone building a new rig around this can take their time. One report floated the idea of 25 million preorders adding up to $2 billion before a single player has touched a controller, which is the kind of number that sounds designed to go viral rather than get verified, so I'd hold that one even looser than the file size. GTA Online's successor isn't part of this single-player release at launch, but assume Rockstar gets there eventually, because it always does.

So clear your drive now, because waiting until November 12 to find 210GB of free space is how people end up deleting the wrong save file at 2 AM. Rockstar can confirm the real number whenever it wants. Until then, my shelf stays half-empty on principle.
