Forza Horizon 6 Confirmed for PS5, Arriving January 2027

Three years ago, Xbox exclusivity was still spoken of as a principle rather than a bargaining chip, something a certain console maker insisted was the whole point of owning the brand. You will forgive me, then, for finding it mildly delicious that Forza Horizon 6, once the crown jewel of that argument, now carries a PlayStation 5 release date and a pre-order button, confirmed barely a day after the leak that first suggested it.

The announcement settles what had been, until yesterday, merely rumor: Forza Horizon 6 launches on PS5 in January 2027, with pre-orders already live. It also resolves, rather tidily, the earlier report that the PS5 version had slipped, a story this site covered in Forza Horizon 6's PS5 Launch Reportedly Slips to 2027. The leak held up. The delay, it now appears, was simply the honest version of the schedule before marketing caught up to it.

From Exclusive to Export

What strikes me is not the destination so much as the itinerary required to reach it. A franchise built as a system-seller, the kind of title once deployed specifically to justify a console purchase, is now being sold to the console it was meant to argue against. One does not need to be unkind about it; the facts arrange themselves into their own small verdict.

  • Forza Horizon 6 is officially coming to PlayStation 5 in January 2027.
  • Pre-orders are open now, according to the announcement reported by DayOne.
  • The confirmation follows a leak that surfaced only the day prior, which proved accurate.

A Welcome, If a Belated One

PlayStation owners are, I am sure, pleased to be invited to the party, even if the invitation arrived some years after the venue was first booked for someone else. There is no need for triumphalism here, only an observation: the console that was supposed to need its exclusives to survive is now mailing them out as deliveries.

Whether the racing itself justifies the fanfare is a separate question, one January will answer regardless of which platform you are answering it on. But the strategic admission embedded in this release date is not subtle, and it did not require a leak to become visible, only a pre-order page.
