Cyberpunk 2077's 2.5 Update Finally Lets You Dual-Wield Pistols

CD Projekt Red's Edgerunners-themed patch adds a dual-wielding perk, cyberware skins, cross-platform mod support, and a prequel quest. One of those features leaked before it was confirmed.

Cyberpunk 2077 has let you weld Mantis Blades into your forearms, grow a Monowire out of your wrist, and generally turn your skeleton into a hardware store, and somehow nobody at CD Projekt Red thought to let V hold two guns at once until now. That gap closes on October 22, 2026, when Update 2.5 lands alongside the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix, and the patch notes (as detailed by IGN) finally give the people what they asked for since 2020: a new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree that lets you dual-wield Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category.

Until now the closest thing to dual-wielding was strapping on Mantis Blades, which is a fine way to stab someone but a lousy substitute for emptying two clips into Adam Smasher simultaneously. Windows Central flagged the dual-wielding tease first off CD Projekt Red's REDstream announcement, and Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun both confirm the perk once the full notes dropped.

What's actually in 2.5

According to IGN's rundown of the patch notes, the update bundles in:

  • A new Edgerunners-themed side quest called Clampdown, a prequel to Season 2 that unlocks after finishing The Heist and two Wakako gigs, with a King-inspired gear set as the reward.
  • A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, carrying tracks from the anime.
  • Cyberware customization through five new Glamdoc vendors, letting you reskin Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and the Projectile Launch System instead of staring at the same chrome for a hundred hours.
  • An FOV slider on consoles, saves grouped by playthrough, and new outfit sets scattered across Night City's districts.
  • DLSS 4.5 support, including the newer Multi Frame Generation modes, which is the one line in this whole announcement an actual benchmark can hold accountable.

GameSpot notes the update ships October 22 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with Switch 2 owners waiting a few extra days, which checks out: that hardware has never once been first in line for anything.

The mod support that leaked before it was official

Here's the part worth flagging separately. Before CD Projekt Red's own reveal, the channel Joy Stick News reported that cross-platform mod support through mod.io was coming to consoles, explicitly labeling it unconfirmed leaked reporting at the time. It held up: IGN's patch notes and Eurogamer's report both now list cross-platform mod support for PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S as official.

Mod support arriving on a console is the kind of claim that usually gets walked back into a 'curated' marketplace with three approved reshades. CD Projekt Red hasn't specified scope yet beyond the platform list, and until mod.io's console catalog actually populates, treat 'cross-platform' as a direction, not a guarantee of parity with the PC workshop that's kept this game alive for six years.
